inp.polri.go.id - Jakarta. The South Lampung Sub-regional Police thwarted an attempted smuggling of 122.515 kilograms of methamphetamine from Aceh at Bakauheni Port, South Lampung.
Lampung Regional Police Chief Inspector General Helfi Assegaf stated that after uncovering the hundreds of kilograms of narcotics, his team successfully apprehended three suspects identified as WS (30), R (44), and S (43), all Aceh residents.
"We have arrested and confiscated 122.515 kg of methamphetamine at Bakauheni Port Seaport Interdiction on Saturday, December 27, 2025, at approximately 9:00 PM," announced Chief Helfi on Monday (1/12/2026).
In uncovering the drugs case, the perpetrators were found to have used a modus operandi of hiding the drugs inside a pile of jengkol beans to deceive officers.
"Hundreds of kilograms of crystal methamphetamine were transported by truck, concealed in a pile of jengkol (jengkol beans) from Aceh to Kramat Jati Market, Jakarta," said Helfi.
He estimated the economic value of the seized contraband to be hundreds of billions of rupiah.
"Assuming a value of IDR 1,000,000 per gram, the 122,515 kilograms of crystal methamphetamine is worth IDR 122 billion," Helfi explained
He continued that from uncovering this case, police estimate that nearly one million lives have been saved from the threat of drug abuse.
"Assuming one gram is consumed by five people, then with 122,515 kilograms of crystal methamphetamine, 612,575 lives have been saved," Helfi concluded.
