Inp.polri.go.id – Jambi. The joint personnel of Jambi Regional Police, Sub-regional Military Commander Gapu 042, Batanghari Regency Government, and Pertamina closed hundreds of illegal oil wells in Bungku Village as the wells have encroached on the Grand Forest Park of Batanghari.
“According to our data, the wells have encroached on the Grand Forest Park, so we came here to control the situation,” said the Head of Sub-directorate of Special Criminal Investigation of Jambi Regional Police, Superintendent Reza Khomeini on Tuesday (5/7/2024).
After closing the illegal oil wells, all parties will work to ensure that there are no similar practices in the province. He also acknowledged that this effort requires strong commitment from all parties and hoped that the joint parties would commit to ensure no more illegal oil wells in Jambi.
From the data acquired by our joint team, there are 149 illegal oil wells in the area. Reza says that the illegal oil wells have been operated for quite a long time and damaged the surrounding area.
