Inp.polri.go.id – Jakarta. Indonesian President Joko Widodo (Jokowi) states that 61% of Indonesian Gross Domestic Product (GDP) is supported by Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises (MSMEs).
“As we all know, the number of MSMEs in Indonesia is around 65 million and they have contributed to our GDPs for 61%, which is huge,” commend Jokowi on Thursday (3/7/2024).
He said that the MSMEs sector must be part of the government focus, as other being the biggest contributor for state GDP, they also succeeded in absorbing a very large workforce reaching 97 percent.
For that achievement, Jokowi also praised BRI for developing MSMEs in the country through their successful implementation of digital banking which reaches the lowest level of community.
“Imagine managing around 740,000 of BRIlink shops. The program of BRIlink is indeed amazing with the number of yearly transactions reaching IDR 1,400 trillion. BRI dared to took over all matters in MSMEs that was previously managed by loan sharks and retail banks. We have to appreciate their move,” explained Jokowi.
However, Jokowi also remarks that the government have also gave their contribution in developing MSMEs through People's Business Credit (KUR) with a total funds of IDR 45 trillion.
On the other hand, Jokowi also appreciates the presence of several instruments of MSMEs fundings, such as Ultra Micro (UMi) financing managed by BRI with a number of customers reaching 8.2 million people.
