Central Jakarta Sub-regional Metro Police deployed 1,489 joint personnel in securing a protest in front of DPR/MPR RI Building, Central Jakarta, on Thursday (3/7/2024). “In securing the rally of several elements of society in front of the DPR/MPR RI Building, we deployed 1,489 joint personnel from Metro Jaya Regional Police, Central Jakarta Sub-regional Metro Police, the military, Jakarta Regional Government, and related institutions,” said the Deputy Head of Central Jakarta Sub-regional Metro Police, Superintendent Elfrino Trisanto in his written statement on Thursday (3/7/2024). Trisanto explains that personnel would be stationed into different points around the building to anticipate any unexpected scenarios from happening. According to him, all personnel involved have been advised and instructed to act persuasively, not to be easily provoked, and prioritize negotiations and service over violence. On the other hand, demonstration field coordinator and orators are implored not to provoke the mass and to voice their opinion in peace by avoiding acts of anarchy or damaging public facilities. Regarding traffic engineering during the demonstration, police officials states that they will manage the traffic situation in accordance to the development at the field. If there are escalations in the rally, police would close the traffic access from the front of Pulau Dua and diverted to Slipi. (ad/ay/pr/nm)
