Inp.polri.go.id - Jakarta. Indonesian National Police (INP) Chief General Listyo Sigit Prabowo said on Monday (27/10/2025) that journalists are the strategic partners of the National Police (Polri) in maintaining public order and democracy.
“Journalists are strategic partners of the police in maintaining public security and order. This synergy must be continuously strengthened,” he said in an official statement following a meeting with the Indonesian Journalists Association (PWI) leadership at the INP Headquarters, as reported by antaranews.com.
Chief Sigi highlighted the INP’s commitment to uphold press freedom and resolve media-related legal disputes through the Press Council mechanism, not criminal proceedings. He also revealed plans for joint training programs between the INP and PWI and promised stronger protection for journalists reporting from conflict zones.
PWI Chairman Akhmad Munir appreciated the INP’ss consistent support and urged uniform implementation of the INP–Press Council memorandum across the country. The meeting also discussed preparations for National Press Day 2026, to be held in Serang, Banten.
