Inp.polri.go.id - Jakarta. The state railway operator PT Kereta Api Indonesia (KAI) is preparing the Sudirman area in Central Jakarta to become a major integrated public transportation hub, aiming for safer, more efficient, and economically viable urban mobility.
“This is the first step in developing Sudirman as a central node for inclusive and sustainable public transport,” said KAI President Director Didiek Hartantyo on Thursday (15/5/2025), as quoted by antaranews.com.
PT KAI recently held a kick-off meeting for the “Sudirman Gateway: TOD Project Preparation for Viable Private Investment,” which will involve a feasibility study supported by PT Moda Integrasi Transportasi Jabodetabek (MITJ) and Australia’s KIAT.
The area serves multiple rail lines including Commuter Line, MRT, LRT Jabodebek, and the airport rail link. In 2024–May 2025, over 38 million passengers used Sudirman and Karet stations.
PT KAI will revamp Karet Station and enhance Sudirman and BNI City stations. The study will also explore non-fare revenue through retail spaces and co-working areas, with phased implementation starting in 2025.
