Inp.polri.go.id - Jember. The Jember Sub-regional Police East Java, have arrested two suspects in a brutal 2013 murder case who had fled to Malaysia and remained fugitives for 12 years.

“They were arrested after returning to Jember for family matters. They had been working in Malaysia while on the run,” said Jember Police Chief Superintendent Bobby A. Condroputra on Thursday (15/5/2025).

The suspects, identified as SB (35) and SA 94), along with two others still at large, allegedly beat Ali, 50, of Sumberbaru sub-district, to death in February 2013. The crime was reportedly triggered by a longstanding grudge— suspect SB is said to have been assaulted by the victim’s son, according to antaranews.com.

The arrest followed weeks of surveillance after police learned the men had returned home. They were arrested without resistance.

Two other suspects, MJ (70) and FR (30), remain on the wanted list and are believed to be overseas. The arrested men face charges of premeditated murder and assault, carrying penalties of up to death or life imprisonment.
