inp.polri.go.id – The Chief of the Indonesian National Police (Kapolri) General Police Drs. Listyo Sigit Prabowo, M.Sc., socialized the possibility of extending the time for One-Way and Odd Even traffic engineering at Cikampek Toll Road KM 47 to Kalikangkung KM 414, on D-3 Lebaran. The traffic engineering strategy which previously should end at 24.00 pm, maybe extended until 07.00 or 08.00 WIB, tomorrow. This was conveyed by Kapolri when directly observing the current situation of the homecoming flow at the Cikampek Utama (Cikatama) Toll Gate, West Java, Friday (29/4/22). According to him, the policy adjustment was due to predictions that there were still around 211,000 people who would travel back and forth. This number has increased by 45% when compared to the volume of vehicles last night or D-4 Lebaran. "This means that there are around 211,000 travelers who will come across this road. So like it or not, we need to revise our engineering. We previously want to implement the One-Way system until 24.00 WIB, but because of the 211,000 travelers, we may have to shift it according to that number. So then, the plan is to extend it until 07.00 or 08.00 WIB in the morning," explained the former Head of Criminal Investigation Agency during his direct inspection. Meanwhile, at 07.00 or 08.00 WIB in the next day, the toll road will return to normal until 16.00 WIB. Or in other words, vehicles heading to the Jakarta area can still pass on toll roads with certain system settings. It is known, that until this afternoon, the application of One Way traffic engineering was implemented starting from Cikatama Toll Road KM 70 to Kalikangkung Toll Road KM 414. Meanwhile, the one-way contraflow is implemented from Jakarta-Cikampek Toll Road from KM 47 to KM 70. "Then from the east to west, the road will return to normal starting from 08.00 to 16.00 WIB. Those are some changes which of course adjusted to conditions in the field. However, arterial routes, whether in Pantura or in the city, can still be used," said Kapolri. He explained that the socialization of the possibility of extending the One-Way policy was already conveyed earlier so that the community could make preparations earlier. "Perhaps there are some things that I want to convey to the community. The Head of Traffic Corps (Kakorlantas) will convey them in more detail so that the public can get the information and can adjust their timing," said Kapolri. He also emphasized to his staff to anticipate and be prepared to control the flow at a certain hour. "Because there is a tendency for people to prefer going home after breaking the fast, then after tarawih and after sahur. So those hours are the favorite hours for people to make a trip. This is part of our attention," said Kapolri. Moreover, he explained the reason for extending the One-Way system on toll roads last night or D-4 Lebaran. According to him, this policy must be implemented because last night the average vehicle volume per hour had reached five thousand vehicles. "Regarding the extension of One-Way Policy was due to the extraordinary density. If did not do it, there will be a much worse traffic jam coming. We will carry out various arrangements and police discretion by paying attention to the development of the traffic flow situation from time to time," said the former Banten Police Chief. On the other hand, he also mentioned the current condition of the Lebaran homecoming traffic from Jakarta to Merak and vice versa. He admitted that until this afternoon, the area was still experiencing congestion, especially in the direction toward Merak. Related to this, he emphasized, his party along with other ranks has carried out several traffic policy strategies to reduce congestion. Among them are moving logistics transportation to Indah Kiat Pier. "Then the arrangement regarding the problem of loading and unloading time which was previously 1 hour was accelerated to 45 minutes. The two piers will only transport passengers to Bakauheni so that the density in Merak, especially from piers 1 to 7, which are already full of people, can immediately return to normal," the National Police Chief concluded.
