Inp.polri.go.id - Jakarta. Severe flooding continues to paralyze 126 neighborhood units across the capital as of Friday evening (23/1/2026), following relentless downpours and river overflows.
The Jakarta Disaster Management Agency (BPBD) reported that inundation has struck West, East, South, North, and Central Jakarta, with water levels reaching dangerous depths in several residential pockets.
"We urge the public to remain cautious and vigilant against rising floodwaters and potential hazards," said Mohamad Yohan, the BPBD Jakarta’s Head of Disaster Data and Information, as cited by antaranews.com.
The worst-hit areas include Duri Kosambi and Rawa Buaya in West Jakarta, where floodwaters have exceeded one meter, necessitating the evacuation of vulnerable residents, including infants and the elderly.
In addition, 18 major roadways remain waterlogged with depths up to 75 centimeters, causing significant logistical disruptions. Emergency teams remain on high alert as the Asian Monsoon continues to drive extreme precipitation across the metropolitan area.
