Inp.polri.go.id - Jakarta. The Meteorology, Climatology, and Geophysics Agency (BMKG) warned on Friday (23/1/2026) that moderate to heavy rainfall will persist across the Greater Jakarta (Jabodetabek) area throughout the coming week.
Atmospheric analysis indicates that a strengthened Asian Monsoon, coupled with a "cold surge" from mainland Asia, has intensified wind convergence and cloud formation over Java.
"Within the next week, there remains a potential for moderate to heavy intensity rain across most of the Jabodetabek region," said BMKG forecaster Jatmiko during a press briefing, as cited by antaranews.com
The agency reported extreme precipitation levels, peaking at 267 mm per day earlier this week, with Friday’s rainfall already hitting 189 mm by mid-afternoon. Authorities are urging residents in flood-prone zones to remain vigilant against hydrometeorological disasters, including flash floods and significant transit disruptions. This weather pattern is expected to extend across southern Indonesia, impacting Sumatra, Java, Bali, and Nusa Tenggara.
