inp.polri.go.id - Jakarta. The National Police Chief (Kapolri), Police General Drs. Listyo Sigit Prabowo, M.Sc., was present at the commemoration of the International Labor Day or May Day Fiesta 2022 at the Bung Karno Main Stadium (SUGBK), Jakarta, Saturday (14/5).
The rain did not stop Kapolri from participating in reviewing the security of May Day 2022, as well as greeting and seeing firsthand the spirit of the labor groups, which continues to fight for justice and prosperity.
The warm welcome from the labor groups thundered in welcoming the presence of Kapolri. This enthusiasm was also responded by a loud voice of General Listyo Sigit Prabowo, which rallies the labor group.
"On this occasion, allow me to utter the cry of the workers' struggle. Long live the workers! Long live the workers! Long live the workers!," said the National Police Chief in a loud voice greeted by the roar of the workers who 'flooded' the Bung Karno Main Stadium.
After echoing the cries of workers, the former Head of Criminal Investigation Unit expressed his hope that all elements of workers in Indonesia could be more prosperous, as they constantly voiced their struggle until now.
" I as the National Police Chief and representing all Polri institutions, from the bottom of my heart I wish you a happy birthday to all my fellow workers, both in Indonesia and abroad. Hopefully the workers will be more prosperous," said Kapolri.
In front of tens of thousands of pairs of eyes, the National Police Chief also expressed his appreciation to the workers who have participated directly and actively assisted the Indonesian Government in handling and controlling the Covid-19 Pandemic.
"I appreciate how you, we, and all other elements of the nation working hard to deal with the Covid-19 Pandemic with various kinds of activities starting from following the restriction rules and even you who being directly involved in vaccination activities for the benefit of the community,” said Kapolri.
In fact, the vaccination number of Indonesia has reached 408 million or being the fifth largest in the world, and it cannot be separated from the participation and hard work from the labor groups.
"And this can all happen because of the contribution and participation of fellow workers throughout Indonesia. Currently, the Government is providing leeway so that community activities can begin to run normally. The activities of fellow workers are also starting to run normally. We can work again and also we can all go to our hometowns during the Eid al-Fitr holiday," said Kapolri and responded with thunderous roar from the workers.
Furthermore, the National Police Chief emphasized, thanks to the hard work of workers, in this difficult time of the Covid-19 pandemic, Indonesia's economic growth continues to improve. Currently it is above five percent.
"This figure is far above the economic growth of other developed countries. This is all thanks to the participation, hard work, and sweat of all of our fellow workers. We representing the Government would like to thank all of our fellow workers," said Kapolri.
Not only that, the National Police Chief said that Indonesia is currently moving to become a producing country. He said, various kinds of activities continue to be carried out to create new job opportunities for the community. Of course, this, the National Police Chief emphasized, requires the participation of labor groups.
Meanwhile, the National Police Chief emphasized that he would continue to be committed in guarding and maintaining democratic spaces of workers in expressing their aspirations in order to realize the desired goals and hopes.
"We ask that everything to be carried out in according to the rule of law, according to the rules of the constitution. And thankfully today everything is going exactly what we wanted. Such a large workforce can gather in a solemn, peaceful, joyful manner and it shows that Indonesia is a modern democratic country. Keep it up because this is what we need to move forward," explained the National Police Chief.
Before ending his speech, the National Police Chief also led the workers to sing one national anthems entitled Bagimu Negeri. The National Police Chief and wokers then sing the song together at the event.
