Inp.polri.go.id - Jayapura. The Damai Cartenz Task Force revealed on Wednesday (31/12/2025) that an armed criminal group (KKB) has recruited around 100 youths in Dekai, Yahukimo Regency, Papua Mountains, to reinforce its members.
“We identified that around 100 youths, mostly under 21 years old, were recruited by the KKB in Yahukimo,” said Damai Cartenz Task Force Chief Brigadier General. Faizal Ramadhani, as quoted by antaranews.com.
The finding emerged after task force personnel arrested several KKB members, including Junior Bocor Sobolim, who was killed while resisting arrest in Dekai on 6 November 2025. Further investigation uncovered a structured recruitment effort targeting unemployed and out-of-school youths.
Chief Faizal said Yahukimo remains the most affected area within Papua Regional Police jurisdiction, with KKB-related violence resulting in 35 deaths. Authorities noted the group exploits social vulnerability to expand its influence.
He said law enforcement will continue, alongside prevention measures involving local administrations and stakeholders to provide training and employment opportunities for at-risk youth.
