Inp.polri.go.id - Jakarta. A magnitude 5.2 earthquake struck off Boven Digoel Regency, Papua, at approximately 12.39 pm on Sunday (2/8/2026). The Meteorology, Climatology, and Geophysics Agency (BMKG) reported that the epicenter was located 383 kilometers southeast of Boven Digoel at a depth of 104 kilometers.

The agency noted that initial seismic updates prioritize reporting speed, meaning data processing remains preliminary and may undergo minor revisions as additional monitoring details are verified. 

No initial reports of casualties or structural damage were recorded following the deep-focus tremor.
