inp.polri.go.id - Jakarta. The Ministry of Manpower continues to encourage the development of an Occupational Safety and Health (K3) culture as a strategic step to reduce the number of workplace accidents and create a safe, healthy, productive, and competitive work environment.

Vice Minister of Manpower Afriansyah Noor emphasized that workforce development aims not only to boost industrial productivity and competitiveness, but also to ensure that every worker receives protection and can work safely, healthily, and with dignity.

"Workforce development is not only aimed at improving industrial productivity and competitiveness, but also ensuring that every worker receives protection and can work safely. Therefore, K3 must be the main foundation for the sustainability of the national industry," said Noor on Wednesday (6/24/2026).

He stated that although the trend of workplace accidents is decreasing, the risk remains a real challenge in the business and industrial world. Based on data from the Ministry of Manpower, the number of workplace accidents in 2024 was recorded at 462,241, while in 2025 it reached 319,382.

According to him, efforts to prevent workplace accidents are not sufficient merely by fulfilling administrative aspects and complying with OHS regulations. A more fundamental transformation is needed through the formation of a safety culture embedded in organizational values, work behaviors, and daily leadership practices.

"A mature safety culture will encourage safer work behaviors, more effective risk control, and the organization's ability to prevent accidents and occupational diseases. Therefore, improving the maturity of a safety culture must be a shared concern," explained Noor.

He explained that various studies show that organizations with a higher level of safety culture maturity tend to have lower incident rates and better safety performance. Therefore, OHS culture assessment is an important tool for understanding the actual condition of an organization and determining measurable and sustainable improvement steps.

He also encouraged all stakeholders to follow up on the assessment results by developing clear action plans, strengthening safety leadership, improving risk communication, strengthening human resource competencies, and implementing regular monitoring and evaluation.
