inp.polri.go.id - North Sumatra. North Sumatra Regional Police Chief Inspector General Whisnu Hermawan Februanto attended a health service event, which included free health checks for people of Maduma Village, Simanindo District, Samosir Regency, on Wednesday (8/19/2026).

The activity targeted approximately 70 people, ranging from children to the elderly. Services provided included blood pressure, blood sugar, uric acid, cholesterol, and dental checkups.

Head of the North Sumatra Regional Police Health Sub-Division, Superintendent Andrean Lesmana, stated that the health service was a form of police service to the community and an effort to provide closer access to healthcare for people in rural areas.

"Today, we are conducting social service by conducting free health checks and providing treatment to people in this area," said Andrean.

He stated that health checks are important to help people identify health conditions early. The mountainous geographical conditions of the region, he said, pose a challenge for some residents in accessing health services.

The examinations revealed a number of complaints related to blood pressure and respiratory problems. Residents with a history or indications of certain illnesses will be directed to receive further examination and treatment through referral health facilities.

"These health checks also aim to reach communities with limited access to health services, such as those in this village, so that residents can continue to monitor their health," he said.

Andrean explained that residents requiring further treatment can be directed to the Bhayangkara Medan Hospital or other hospitals as needed.

The health service is also said to be part of activities being carried out simultaneously in 17 provinces across Indonesia as part of the National Police's support for the government's program to expand public health services.
