Inp.polri.go.id - Jakarta. The Ministry of Defense has confirmed that the deployment of Indonesian troops to Gaza is currently pending specific instructions from President Prabowo Subianto.
Brigadier General Rico Sirait, the Head of the Ministry of Defense Information Bureau, said on Wednesday (25/2/2026) that detailed operational plans, including troop numbers, personnel selection, and timelines, will only be finalized after the President returns to Indonesia on 28 February 2026.
“We are waiting for the President's arrival. There are specific guidelines and directions regarding the 'who, where, and when' that must come directly from our Commander-in-Chief,” he said, as cited by antaranews.com.
He also urged all military and defense officials to refrain from releasing unverified details to prevent public misinformation.
This planned deployment linked to Indonesia's recent commitment during a state visit to the United States. Indonesia has agreed to join the Board of Peace (BoP), a multilateral body established by U.S. President Donald Trump. Indonesia is expected to play a significant role in this initiative, with high-ranking Indonesian military officials slated to serve as deputy commanders for the International Stability Force (ISF) in the Gaza Strip.
