Inp.polri.go.id – Jakarta. As the holiday of 2023 Christmas and 2024 New Year Eve looms, may people decide to took their sweet time to return to their hometown. The massive waves of people returning to their hometown also impacts train ticket selling, particularly in Java Island.
The Kereta Api Indonesia (KAI) Inc. reports that 44% of train seats during holiday season, from December 21st, 2023, to January 7th, 2024, has been booked.
KAI VP Public Relations Joni Martinus confirms the reports as he said that as of December 18th, 2023, 1,260,792 tickets or 44% from the total tickets accommodated by the KAI.
“There are still many tickets available,” says Joni to calm down other travelers who have not bought the tickets.
Joni also states people could book the ticket through Access by KAI app, kai.id, or through other official channels.
According to KAI reports, 306,518 out of 860,346 executive class seats have been booked. While for business class, 40,893 tickets have been sold out of 130,420 seats accommodated. As of economy class, 917,475 tickets have been sold out of a total capacity of 1,888,122 tickets accommodated.
In addition, based on KAI reports analysis, the best-selling ticket for the homecoming wave is for the departure of December 23rd, 2023 with 139,455 passengers.
While the highest booking for the backflow is for the departure of December 26th, 2023, with 102,937 passengers.
