The Communication and Informatics Minister Budi Arie Setiadi states that hoax and misinformation on 2024 General Election is in decline. “By aggregate, there are fewer hoaxes in 2024 General Election than those in 2019. It is a good news for us all as it shows that our people now have become smarter than before,” says Budi Arie when interviewed by RRI on Monday (1/29/2024). Furthermore, Budi says that his party will continue to educate the public with digital literacy. According to him, it is necessary for people to be wise in using and communicating in digital space. “Because hoax is a lie, and only to provoke others, for example when President Joko Widodo shares food in Istana Bogor. The fact is, those was happened during last year Eid al-Fitr, not just recently during this political year,” explained Budi. Budi implores people to first confirm all the news they received as he does not want public to be swayed and provoked by misinformation. “People of Indonesia, particularly activists and social media activist, let us together maintain our healthy digital space and maintain our quality democracy,” conclude Budi.
