Minister of Environment and Forestry Siti Nurbaya Bakar states Indonesia has made concrete and correct moves in overcoming climate change. “We are not like other countries who only speaks of commitment or ambitions,” calls Minister Siti quoted from Antara on Thursday (11/30/2023). Siti states that the average countries in suppressing greenhouse gas emissions are at the very least is at 43 percent, while Indonesia has successfully reduced the gas emission for 52 percent in 2020. Then, in 2021 to 2022, the numbers are fluctuating with 43 percent in 2021 and 42 percent in 2022. “Actually, Indonesia has been among the countries who could reduce the gas emission ambitiously,” adds Minister Siti. Although the gas emission of Indonesia is considerably high, central government continuously working hard to reduce emissions from coastal ecosystems. “We are trying to finish all of our commitment so that we could produce much better result. For this year we aim to reach 43.2 percent. For the next year, we are committed to produce a better result than 43.2 percent,” conclude Minister Siti. (ad/ndt/pr/nm)
