Inp.polri.go.id - Jakarta. Minister of Foreign Affairs Sugiono has called for a full investigation into the shooting incident involving the Malaysian Maritime Enforcement Agency (APMM) near Tanjung Rhu, Selangor, which claimed the life of an Indonesian citizen.

“We urge a thorough investigation into the shooting, including allegations of excessive force,” he said in a statement issued by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs on Monday (27/1/2025), as quoted by antaranews.com.

The incident occurred on Friday, reportedly involving several Indonesians attempting to leave Malaysia illegally. According to authorities, APMM personnel fired shots after facing alleged resistance during the encounter.

The Indonesian Migrant Workers Protection Agency (KP2MI) has earlier reported one fatality and four injuries in the incident.
