inp.polri.go.id - Jakarta. The Ministry of Villages and Development of Disadvantaged Regions (Kemendes PDT) is the main contributor in promoting food security, especially at the village level.

"Actually, to put it simply, food self-sufficiency at the village level is that the Minister of Villages and Development of Disadvantaged Regions Yandri Susanto saw that each village can have their own superior products. In his way, he always calls certain village a chili village, a tomato village, a rice village, or a fish village, and so on," said the Director General of Acceleration of Development of Disadvantaged Regions, Samsul Widodo on Friday (1/17/2025). Samsul also adds that 20 percent of the Village Fund is used for food security

Therefore, the Ministry of Villages, Disadvantaged Regions and Transmigration will be the main contributor in encouraging and making food security a success, especially at the village level, because 20 percent of the Village Fund or around IDR 16 trillion is the minimum that can be utilized to encourage the creation of food security at the village level.

He explained several things discussed in this coordination meeting related to irrigation networks in South Sulawesi, distribution of subsidized fertilizers, utilization of agricultural extension workers, empowerment of local farmers for the Free Nutritious Meal Program (MBG), improvement of fish farming, availability and price of food, provision of superior seeds, circular economy of waste and garbage, and rehabilitation of mangroves and silvofishery.
