Inp.polri.go.id - South Lampung. The Volcanology and Geological Disaster Mitigation Center (PVMBG) has reported another eruption of Mount Anak Krakatau on Tuesday (28/11/23) morning at 9.15 am.
Located in the Sunda Strait waters, South Lampung Regency, Lampung Province, the volcano discharged volcanic ash, reaching approximately 1,500 meters above the summit and elevating to about 1,657 meters above sea level.
Andi Suardi, Head of the Mount Anak Krakatau monitoring post in Hargopancuran, Rajabasa district, South Lampung, cautioned on Tuesday that the nearest settlement to Anak Krakatau is on Sebesi island, 16.5 kilometers away.
"Currently, Mount Anak Krakatau is at level III. We recommend people, fishermen, climbers not to approach the mountain within a radius of five kilometers," he urged.
The recent eruption marks the 20th occurrence from November 26 to November 28, 2023.
