Inp.polri.go.id – Balikpapan.  Minister of Energy and Mineral Resources Bahlil Lahadalia announcedon Saturday (14/12/2024) that Muhammadiyah has strong potential to manage a former coal mining site previously operated by PT Adaro Energy Tbk under a Coal Mining Concession Work Agreement (PKP2B).

“The site likely belonged to Adaro. The licensing process is ongoing and should be finalized soon,” he said during a visit to Balikpapan, East Kalimantan, as reported by antaranews.com.

The Minister added that Nahdlatul Ulama (NU) has already been granted a Mining Business Permit (IUP) to operate a former PKP2B concession from PT Kaltim Prima Coal (KPC), which is now fully operational.

The government has allocated six former coal mining concessions for religious organizations, including sites from PT Arutmin Indonesia, PT Kendilo Coal Indonesia, PT Kaltim Prima Coal, PT Adaro Energy, PT Multi Harapan Utama, and PT Kideco Jaya Agung.

This initiative is governed by Regulation 25/2024, which allows religious organizations like NU and Muhammadiyah, both the largest Muslim organizations in Indonesia, to manage Special Mining Business License Areas (WIUPK) to foster resource management and organizational empowerment.
