Inp.polri.go.id - Jakarta. The Coordinating Ministry for Food Affairs plans to launch the National Command Center for the Free Nutritious Meal (MBG) Program in mid-May 2026.
Nani Hendiarti, Deputy for Food Accessibility and Security, announced that the facility is scheduled for inauguration around 17 May 2026.
"In 2026, our focus is on improving quality through better governance and ensuring intervention targets are met," she said on Sunday (26/4/2026), as reported by antaranews.com.
The command center, located at the Ministry’s office, serves as a central hub to synchronize efforts between central and regional governments. It aims to strengthen program governance and oversee the quality of Nutritional Service Units (SPPG) kitchens.
As part of these quality control measures, the government has temporarily suspended 1,789 SPPG units as of 24 April 2026, due to hygiene issues and reported poisoning cases.
While this is a decrease from a previous peak of 3,000 units, the ministry is working closely with the National Nutrition Agency (BGN) to determine if problematic units require relocation or permanent restructuring. The program's core policies this year include expanding intervention reach, enhancing nutritional education, and ensuring effective benefits for all recipients.
