Inp.polri.go.id - Jakarta. The National Nutrition Agency (BGN) has officially denied reports claiming that the death of a two-year-old toddler, M. Abdul Bais, in Cianjur, West Java, was caused by the Free Nutritious Meal (MBG) program.
Nanik Sudaryati Deyang, the BGN Deputy for Public Communication and Investigation, clarified on SUnday (26/4/2026) that the timeline of events and the health status of other recipients indicate the program's food was safe.
"The death of the toddler in Cianjur due to the MBG program is not true," she said, as cited by antaranews.com
The toddler consumed the MBG meal, consisting of noodles, an omelet, milk, and fruit, on 14 April 2026. According to BGN, out of 2,174 recipients served by the Sukasirna 02 Leles Service Unit on that day, no other individual reported digestive issues. Symptoms only appeared two days later, on 16 April 2026, after the child had consumed additional food and milk formula purchased independently by the parents.
The victim's father, Sahjanudin (41), also issued a statement confirming that his son's passing was due to illness and was unrelated to the SPPG Sukasirna 02 Leles kitchen. While the Cianjur Health Office is still awaiting formal laboratory results, preliminary indicators suggest the program's hygiene standards remained intact.
