inp.polri.go.id - Medan. Police have uncovered a narcotics transaction method involving throwing packages of marijuana from a boarding room to the buyer. This method is believed to have been used by the perpetrators to avoid face-to-face meetings during the transaction.
The method was uncovered after the Medan Sub-regional City Police Narcotics Investigation Unit arrested two suspects, identified as AF alias EL (24) and SN (36).
Medan Sub-regional City Police Narcotics Investigation Unit Chief, Superintendent Rafli Yusuf Nugraha, stated in Medan on Sunday (9/13/2026), that the two suspects used several methods to conduct the narcotics transaction.
"The perpetrators used two methods during the transaction. First, they determined the location where the transaction would take place. However, specifically for marijuana, the perpetrators asked the buyers to come to the boarding house, but they did not meet in person because they usually threw the marijuana from inside the boarding room," he said.
Rafli said the two suspects were arrested in the parking area of a hotel in Jalan Merak Street, Medan Sunggal District, early Thursday (9/10/2026). The two were arrested while allegedly attempting to conduct a narcotics transaction.
During the arrest, police confiscated a vibrating pod and methamphetamine suspected of being ready for distribution.
The search revealed several packages of marijuana totaling nearly two kilograms. The packages were packaged in various sizes and were suspected of being ready for distribution.
"We found a large quantity of marijuana. There was one box containing marijuana weighing 1.5 kilograms, four large packages weighing 350 grams, 11 small packages of marijuana ready for distribution weighing 103 grams, and one package of marijuana packed in a jar," he said.
In addition to the marijuana, police also confiscated two packages of meth suspected of being ready for distribution and a Batman-brand vape pen suspected of containing narcotics.
From the initial investigation, police suspect the two suspects have been operating a drug trafficking business for more than a year. The boarding room they occupied is suspected of being used as a drug storage facility.
During their operation, the two suspects received orders via messaging apps. They then arranged a transaction location with the buyer.
Police also revealed the source of the narcotics supplies received by the two suspects. Initial questioning revealed they obtained the drugs from two different suppliers.
Rafli stated that the methamphetamine and vape pens suspected of containing narcotics were supplied by someone identified as Z, while the marijuana was supplied by someone identified as R.
Currently, police are still investigating the case to track down Z and R and further uncover the drug distribution network involving these two suppliers.
