Inp.polri.go.id - Jakarta. Minister of Law Supratman Andi Agtas reaffirmed that Indonesia’s new royalty management system will not disadvantage the music industry, stressing that the government’s goal is to protect creators, copyright holders, and related parties.
“If anyone claims the new system will harm the industry, that’s entirely wrong. The government has no intention of interfering, our duty is to protect everyone,” he said during an open forum with music industry stakeholders at the Ministry of Law headquarters on Friday (31/10/2025), as reported by antaranews.com.
He explained that the main issue lies in the royalty management ecosystem, not the players. The new regulation separates the roles of the National Collective Management Organization (LMKN), which collects royalties, and Collective Management Organizations (LMK), which distribute them, creating transparency and accountability.
The ministry has also limited operational costs to 8% of total royalties, down from 20%, under the new Regulation No. 27/2025.
