Inp.polri.go.id - Jakarta. West Sumatra Regional Police Chief Inspector General Gatot Tri Suryanta said on Saturday (29/11/2025) that police personnel must remain fully mobilized in supporting disaster-hit communities across the province.
“There are no days off for officers when people need us the most,” he said, as quoted by antaranews.com.
Chief Gatot ordered officers to assist residents in clearing debris, distributing food, and meeting urgent needs. Since 25 November 2025, he has instructed all police units to be on the ground helping communities impacted by floods and landslides.
Around 2,400 officers have been deployed. West Sumatra Police have also set up 10 public kitchens, health posts, and trauma-healing activities for children. Officers are further tasked with securing homes left empty as families take shelter in evacuation tents.
West Sumatra Police confirmed that 15 districts and cities have been affected, with five areas, Padang, Agam, Solok City, Padang Pariaman, and Tanah Datar, suffering the most severe impact.
