Inp.polri.go.id- Jakarta. The Ministry of Foreign Affairs confirmed that no Indonesian citizens were affected by Typhoon Kong-rey, which struck Taiwan on Thursday afternoon (31/10/2024).

The Indonesian Economic and Trade Office (KDEI) in Taipei has been closely monitoring the situation, ensuring the safety of Indonesians in Taiwan.

Judha Nugraha, the Ministry’s Director for the Protection of Indonesian Citizens, said that KDEI Taipei remains in contact with Indonesians in Taiwan and local community leaders for updates.

“Currently, there is no report of any Indonesians impacted by Typhoon Kong-rey,” he said in a press briefing, as reported by antaranews.com.

According to KDEI, Typhoon Kong-rey left 27 injured and forced over 2,200 coastal residents to evacuate. The typhoon caused landslides, halted train services, and grounded flights in Taiwan’s eastern regions.

KDEI has advised Indonesians in Taiwan to stay vigilant, remain indoors unless necessary, and follow local storm advisories. Taiwan’s authorities had suspended work and school activities as the typhoon intensified, and weather agencies forecasted it would move northwest before veering north.
