Inp.polri.go.id - Jakarta. Minister of Foreign Affairs Sugiono declared that lasting peace in the Middle East cannot be achieved without the establishment of an independent Palestinian state during the Emergency Arab–Islamic Summit in Doha, Qatar, representing President Prabowo Subianto.
“There will be no lasting peace without a two-state solution. The only path to peace is through the realization of an independent and sovereign State of Palestine with East Jerusalem as its capital,” he said in a release from the Foreign Ministry on Tuesday (16/9/2025), as reported by antaranews.com.
Minister Sugiono’s remarks followed President Prabowo’s recent visit to Qatar and the United Arab Emirates, which reaffirmed Indonesia’s solidarity with Palestine and commitment to international cooperation for peace.
The Doha summit, chaired by Qatar’s Emir Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al-Thani, gathered 22 leaders of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) and the Arab League. The joint communiqué condemned Israeli attacks, backed mediation efforts, and reaffirmed support for the two-state solution.
