Inp.polri.go.id - Jakarta. The Jakarta Metro Jaya Regional Police have disclosed that the motive behind the kidnapping and murder of a Jakarta bank sub-branch manager was a scheme to siphon money from dormant accounts.
The victim, identified as Muhammad Ilham Pradipta (37), was abducted on 20 August 2025 and found dead in Bekasi, West Java, the next day.
“The suspects planned to transfer funds from dormant accounts into pre-prepared accounts,” Jakarta Police Criminal Investigation Director Senior Superintendent Wira Satya Triputra said at a press conference on Tuesday (16/9/2025), as reported by antaranews.com.
According to investigators, suspect C, also known as Ken, who possessed dormant account data from several banks, enlisted alleged mastermind Dwi Hartono to orchestrate the transfer. Ken had already assembled an IT team, but execution required authorization at the level of a branch manager. Police say the victim was targeted to fulfill this role.
So far, 15 suspects have been arrested, including an army corporal now held by military police. Authorities have not disclosed the total value of the dormant accounts involved.
