North Sumatra Police Chief Inspects the Locations of Landslide and Flood in Toba Regency

inp.polri.go.id  - North Sumatra Police Chief (North Sumatra), Inspector General RZ Panca Putra Simanjuntak, inspects the locations of landslides and flash floods on the Medan-Tarutung Cross-Sumatra Road (Jalinsum). The previous landslide occurred on Sunday (28/8/2022) in Jangga Dolok Village, Lumban Julu District, Toba Regency. The arrival of the North Sumatra Police Chief was welcomed by the Toba Police Chief, AKBP. Taufiq Hidayat Thayeb with Deputy Regent of Toba, Tonny Simanjuntak, and the Regional Military Commander 12 of Lumbanjulu Captain Sati Husaini. The North Sumatra Police Chief said that the cause of the landslide was due to heavy water from the top of Jangga Dolok Village. As a result, houses were destroyed and long traffic jams occured. "Seeing what was the cause, I have conveyed several things to the Deputy Regent, what must be addressed immediately. The regional government must paid their full attention on this case to overcome the difficulties of our community affected by this disaster," said the North Sumatra Police Chief, Sunday (28/8/2022). Not only dealing with the disaster, the North Sumatra Police Chief also invited the community to jointly build a program to prevent floods or landslides in the future. “Such as, why the volume of air is large in the upper hill, that problem must be overcomed by maintaining the condition of the forest and the environment of the upper hill,” said North Sumatra Police Chief. “There needs to be a relocation where people could live safely,” he said. Meanwhile, the Deputy Regent of Toba Tonny Simanjuntak conveyed his gratitude to the Police Chief who went directly to review the condition of the location. He adds that Toba Government will immediately clean up the debris of landslide and flash flood. “We will do what the Police Chief suggest. Several tools we have prepared to clean up the debris and will normalize the Pokkahan Jangga Dolok river," said the deputy regent of Toba. Tonny Simanjuntak is also saddened with the news of a resident who lost their house. “We have send them aids such as food supplies and others. We will also build public kitchen for the others to use,” he said.
