Observing Homecoming Flow in Soekarno-Hatta Airport, Chief of Indonesian Police Asks to Tightens Surveillance of People from Abroad

Chief of the Indonesian National Police, Police General Listyo Sigit Prabowo, asked all officers in Soekarno-Hatta Airport to tighten the surveillance for Indonesian and foreign citizens entering the country. The Chief of Indonesian Police issues this statement during his observation of homecoming flow in Soekarno-Hatta Airport, Tangerang, on Wednesday (12/5/2021) together with the Speaker of Indonesia's People's Representative Council Puan Maharani, Commander of the Indonesian National Armed Forces Air Force Marshal Hadi Tjahjanto, Transport Minister Budi Karya Sumadi, Health Minister Budi Gunadi Sadikin, and the Head of National Disaster Management Agency Doni Monardo. "There are two essential tasks: how to closely oversees people arriving from abroad and tightens health protocols for Indonesian and foreign citizens going to Soekarno-Hatta Airport", Sigit explains. Sigit also stated that this tightens or surveillance is to implement the Eid homecoming prohibition regulation. It is in accordance with the attempt to stop the Coronavirus spread and protect the public from the said virus. Sigit, whose also the Former Banten Regional Chief of Police, emphasises on quarantine process for all people from abroad entering Indonesia. Those who are arriving have to self-quarantine to ensure that they are not exposed to the Coronavirus. "Make sure that they have vaccinated or not, for the ones coming from abroad. There should be no one who should (easily) passed the quarantine process. Each bus should be equipped with an officer to drive them to the designated hotels", Sigit said. Furthermore, Sigit also asked for tightened supervision during the 2021 Eid returning flow later. Officers must ensure that the people can show either a negative swab antigen test or proof of vaccination. "After entering the airport, health protocol must be strictly adhered to suppress Covid-19 spreading potentials in the airport", Sigit stated. Meanwhile, the Speaker of Indonesia's People's Representative Council, Puan Maharani, reveals that the number of air passengers' amount in Soekarno-Hatta Airport during Eid this year has decreased by 10%. However, she expects the related officers still to conduct extra tight observation on the homecoming prohibition policy. "Do not let the Covid(-19) spread become out of control. Steps on how to anticipate returning flow (and) controlling health protocol must be kept (as a priority)", Puan concludes.
