During Four Days of 2021 Ketupat Operation, Indonesian National Police has Turned Back 104,000 Homecoming Travellers' Vehicles

inp.polri.go.id. – Jakarta. Indonesian National Police fully supports government regulations that prohibit people from celebrating Eid al-Fitr in their hometowns. Even though the prohibition has been socialised, there still many people desperate to go to their hometowns, either by car or motorcycle.   Chief of Police Traffic Corps of Indonesian National Police, Police Inspector General Istiono, stated that during the first four days of the 2021 Ketupat Operation, 104,000 vehicles across all insulation checkpoints had been turned around. Chief of Police Traffic Corps said that the safety, security, order, and smoothness of the traffic situation is well-controlled.   "During these four days, around 104,000 (vehicles) are turned around. This effort is well-managed thanks to the cooperation of all related institutions in the field", Chief of Police Traffic Corps said.   The two-starred general explains that from the observation on Monday (10/5/2021), the vehicle's volume bound for Central Java has decreased 60%. 70% decrease found in vehicle's volume bound for West Java. The volume of vehicles going to Sumatra is decreasing around 41%.   Vehicles crossing the road are dominated by goods or logistics vehicles. Meanwhile, the ones that turned around due to the suspicion of being homecoming travellers are 23,000 vehicles.   "Vehicle flow is dominated by goods transport. 23,000 (vehicles) are turned around", Chief of Police Traffic Corps said.   As information, the 2021 Ketupat Operation takes place from May 6th to 17th. Police Traffic Corps has rolled out insulation efforts in 381 checkpoints across the country to dispel the travellers.
