Inp.polri.go.id - Jakarta. An auction featuring memorabilia from Indonesia’s Olympic badminton gold medalists has raised Rp 2.5 billion to support youth athlete development and former champions.
“This is more than just fundraising — it's a gesture of solidarity across generations of athletes,” said Taufik Hidayat, the Deputy Sports and Youth Minister who won gold at the 2004 Athens Olympics, in a statement on Friday (27/6/2025).
The charity event, held under the theme “Make Your Moment: Dari Bulu Tangkis Untuk Semua,” was organized by the Indonesia Olympians Association (IOA) and OPPO, with support from the Ministry of Youth and Sports.
Personal items such as rackets, uniforms, bags, and phones from Olympic legends like Susy Susanti, Alan Budikusuma, Lilyana Natsir, and Taufik were auctioned.
The proceeds will fund training programs for young talents across sports and offer support to retired athletes. Sports Minister Dito Ariotedjo praised the initiative, calling it a model for collaborative efforts in advancing Indonesian sports.
