Inp.polri.go.id - Jakarta.  Coordinating Minister for Economic Affairs Airlangga Hartarto confirmed on Friday (17/6/2025) that Indonesia has submitted a “second best offer” in response to U.S. tariff negotiations ahead of the July 8 deadline.

Speaking from the Presidential Palace, he said Indonesia had agreed to several U.S. demands, including tariff adjustments, non-tariff measures, and commercial terms, in response to the 32% reciprocal tariffs announced by President Donald Trump in April.

Minister Airlangga noted that U.S. Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent appreciated Indonesia’s proposals, though final decisions remain subject to coordination among U.S. agencies including US Trade Representatives and the Commerce Department.

He added that the negotiation process remains fluid, as offers from other countries also influence the U.S. response.

“It’s a dynamic exchange. What one country proposes may affect how our offer is viewed,” he said, as quoted by antaranews com.

Despite the complexities, the minister said that no new U.S. demands have been made since the exchange began, with the talks focused on balancing the bilateral trade relationship.
