Inp.polri.go.id - Jayapura. Brigadier General Petrus Patridge R. Renwarini, the Deputy Chief of Papua Regional Police, initiated a face-to-face meeting with the Indigenous Consultative Assembly (LMA) Port Numbay on Monday (13/11/2023) ag the Obhe Warke Traditional House, which serves as the residence of the assembly's chairman.
Attended by influential indigenous leaders such as LMA Port Numbay Chairman George Arnold Awi, District Chief Heram Boby J. Awi, Papuan Muslim leader Taha Alhamid and Sembekra Chief Nafri Daniel Awi, as well as the Ondoafi (traditional leaders) of LMA Port Numbay, the meeting aimed to directly address concerns and gather input from the community, particularly indigenous leaders and residents of the Port Numbay region.
In his warm welcome, Chairman George expressed his gratitude for the presence of the deputy chief of police in Papua and urged support for the smooth execution of his duties.
"Deputy Chief of Papua Police has come here as one of us, a member of our indigenous community. We must unite behind him to ensure the success of his future endeavours," he asserted
In response, the Deputy Chief expressed his pride in being entrusted by God as a native of Port Numbay to serve as Papua's deputy police chief. He emphasised his great responsibility in maintaining public order, especially as the 2024 elections approach.
"I hope that we can meet here regularly to discuss important matters and foster a sense of community. My wish is to see progress in the Port Numbay region and our beloved country of Papua," he said.
Adding a personal touch, the Deputy Chief shared anecdotes from his career, including graduating from the police academy in 1991, the same year as the current national police chief, General Police Listyo Sigit Prabowo. He encouraged attendees to network and work together for the betterment of the region.
