Inp.polri.go.id - Jayapura. The Papua Regional Police revealed the discovery of a type of pistol along with 171 active bullets in a forest area in Jayapura City on Sunday (23/7/23). Brigadier General Ramdani Hidayat, the Vice Chief of Papua Regional Police, stated that the firearms were found hidden in the ground within the forest, but he declined to disclose the exact location as the investigation and development are still ongoing. "We found these firearms in a black plastic bag, and they are of Carl Waltherpabriklum/DO Cal 9 MM type manufactured in Germany. We also discovered a magazine and 171 rounds of ammunition," he said on Monday (24/7/23). He emphasized that this discovery was the result of cooperation and intelligence data analysis between the Papua Regional Police and the Mobile Brigade. The data triggered an investigation in the jurisdictional area of the Jayapura Sub-Regional Large City Police. "The serial number on the firearms has been erased, making it difficult to determine their origin and owner. We plan to handover the firearms to the Forensic Laboratory for identification," he added. "I extend the appreciation of the Chief of Papua Regional Police to the community for their role in assisting the police in uncovering this case. The active participation of the community is crucial in maintaining a secure situation within the jurisdiction of the Jayapura Sub-Regional Police," he concluded. (ndt/hn/um)
