Inp.polri.go.id. - Jakarta. The main actors in human trafficking in the form of human organ sales are under the investigation of the Indonesian National Police (INP), Police Brigadier General Ahmad Ramadhan said on Monday (24/7/23). "Investigators from the Metro Jaya Regional Police and the  INP Criminal Investigation Board continue to investigate the main perpetrators of the human organ sales," he said in Jakarta. The police found no violence or torture against the victims of the criminal acts of human trafficking (TPPO) from Bekasi, whose kidneys were sold to Cambodia. The victims were said to voluntarily sell their kidneys in return for money due to the impact of the Covid-19 pandemic. "There is no (torture to victims),  (it was) voluntary," explained Police Senior Superintendent Hengki Haryadi, the Director of General Criminal Investigation of the Metro Jaya Regional Police, to reporters on Friday (21/7/23). He said that the sale and purchase of kidneys with this economic motive is not justified by law because it is considered a criminal offense and is classified as a TPPO case. (ay/hn/um)
