Inp.polri.go.id - Jakarta. State-owned energy company PT Pertamina (Persero) plans to increase its liquefied petroleum gas (LPG) imports from the United States to 70% following a new reciprocal trade agreement.
Speaking from Washington D.C. on Friday (20/2/2026), Pertamina President Director Simon Aloysius Mantiri confirmed that the deal strengthens national energy security by diversifying supply sources.
"We see massive opportunities in the U.S. to supplement our traditional sources in Southeast Asia, the Middle East, and Africa," he said during a virtual briefing published by antaranews.com
The strategic shift follows the signing of a $15 billion energy procurement pact, which includes $3.5 billion for LPG and $4.5 billion for crude oil.
Simon said that all imports will remain subject to open, transparent bidding processes rather than direct appointments. This 90-day finalization phase aims to secure competitive pricing for domestic consumers while leveraging America’s vast energy reserves to meet Indonesia's growing industrial and household demands.
