Inp.polri.go.id – Papua. Papua Police Chief, Inspector General Mathius D Fakhiri stressed that his party would not agree the independence, weapons, and ammunitions demand from Papua Armed Criminal Group. The Egianus Kogoya group demands the three in exchange for Susi Air Pilot, Philip Mark Merthens, freedom who was held hostage since February 7th.
“I said this once again, the government and Indonesian Military and Police Force have agreed not to accommodate the demands of the Armed Criminal Group for their request of independence, weapons, and ammunitions,” calls Papua Police Chief in his written statement on Saturday (10/14/2023).
He then explains that the negotiation effort for Captain Philips release is continuously being carried out by the Regional Government with the support from local and religious figures. He then adds the details of negotiation technique and what was being negotiated are under the authorization of regional government.
“In principle, we hope and pray that the negotiation effort is successful and Captain Philip able to return home with good health,” Mathius adds.
The Two-Star General says security officials are committed to ensure the safety of the pilot and avoid any casualties from any sides.
“I pray all parties are patient and support our effort so that this issue could be resolved quickly. Law enforcement will be uphold accordingly,” he concluded.
