inp.polri.go.id - West Sumatra. The Indonesian National Police (INP) once again demonstrated its concern for disaster-affected communities by constructing temporary shelters in Kapalo Koto Village, Pauh District, Padang City, on Monday (1/19/2026).

This humanitarian effort involved 100 Mobile Brigade personnel from the West Sumatra Regional Police, who were deployed directly to the location to expedite the construction process. The presence of police personnel on the ground was focused on helping displaced residents find decent, safe, and comfortable housing.

The Head of the Public Information Division of the Public Information Division of INP, Senior Superintendent Erdi A. Chaniago, explained that the construction of these temporary shelters is part of police's commitment to assisting post-disaster recovery.

"The construction of these temporary shelters is a concrete manifestation of the state's presence, through us, among communities experiencing hardship. We are not only present to maintain security but also actively participate in humanitarian missions to assist our brothers and sisters affected by disasters," said Erdi A. Chaniago.

According to him, the construction of temporary housing aims to provide residents with more suitable housing while they await the rehabilitation process and construction of permanent housing.

"We hope this temporary housing will provide a sense of security and comfort for the community. With the temporary housing, residents can return to their daily activities with greater peace and dignity," he added.

A total of 100 temporary housing units are planned to be built in stages. Construction progress has reached approximately 80 percent. The entire process is being carried out in a spirit of mutual cooperation, discipline, and synergy between the Indonesian National Police (INP), the regional government, and the local community.
