inp.polri.go.id - Jakarta. The Indonesian National Police (INP) Security Maintenance Agency reveals they have acted against eight Vietnamese ships crossing Natuna waters in 2024.

"We have captured eight foreign fishing vessels flying the Vietnamese flag in the North Natuna Sea," said the Head of the INP's Marine and Air Police Corps, Inspector General Mohammad Yassin Kosasih, during the 74th Anniversary of the INP Marine and Air Police (Polairud) Corps on Tuesday (12/3/2024).

According to Yassin, his party also took action against an attempt to smuggle illegal cigarettes in the Riau Islands region some time ago. It was recorded that thousands of illegal cigarettes were prosecuted in the disclosure.

"The next process (for the illegal cigarette case handling) is that we hand it over to Customs. So even though we cannot handle it directly, we still carry out disclosure and law enforcement by handing over the case to Customs which has the authority," he explained.

Furthermore, the North Kalimantan Regional Police Marine and Air Directorate also uncovered an attempt to smuggle drugs in the Nunukan region with evidence of 5 kilograms of crystal methamphetamine.
