Inp.polri.go.id - South Tangerang.  The Jakarta Metro Jaya Regional Police have demolised a building allegedly owned by GRIB Jaya, a civil society organization known as locally as ormas, which was illegally constructged on land belonging to Indonesia's Meteorological, Climatological, and Geophysical Agency (BMKG) in Pondok Betung, Pondok Aren, South Tangerang.

“They were unlawfully occupying BMKG property,” said Metro Jaya Police Head of Public Relations Senior Superintendent, Ade Ary Syam Indradi on Saturday (24/5/2025), as quoted by antaranews.com.

The forced demolition followed reports of illegal construction and unauthorized commercial use of the land. Investigations revealed that GRIB Jaya had leased parts of the area to local vendors, including food stall and livestock sellers, charging substantial fees.

“A pecel lele food stall was charged Rp 3.5 million per month, while a livestock vendor paid Rp 22 million,” said Chief Ade, as quoted by antaranews.com.

The funds were transferred directly to a GRIB Jaya member identified as “Y,” reportedly the group's local chapter head.

Over 400 officers were deployed for the operation. Police emphasized zero tolerance for extortion and land grabbing, urging the public not to hesitate in reporting criminal acts.
