Inp.polri.go.id – Jakarta. The Indonesian National Police (INP) deploys 2,970 personnel for the upcoming protest in front of the DPR/MPR RI Building and the General Election Commission (KPU) Office on Tuesday (3/19/2024). The thousands of personnel are divided into two units with 385 guarding the KPU office and 2,585 are stationed at DPR/MPR RI Building. “To secure today’s rally in front of DPR/MPR building, we dispatched personnel from Metro Jaya Regional Police, Central Jakarta Sub-regional Metro Police, military, and other related stakeholders,” says the Chief of Central Jakarta Sub-regional Metro Police, Senior Superintendent Susatyo Purnomo Condro. The blockade or traffic divert and traffic engineering around the location will applied according to the situation of the field. “We will see first how many people participated on this rally. If the number of people in front of DPR/MPR Building keeps growing bigger and the situation escalates, then traffic towards the location will be diverted and there will be road blockade in Pulau Dua,” says Condro. Then, vehicles from the toll road going towards DPR/MPR Building will be diverted to Slipi. The police chief also implores people who are going to cross DPR/MPR RI Building and KPU Office to find another alternative road as there would be rallies at the two locations. He also instructed to all personnel involved in the security operation to always act persuasively, and not easily provoked by the people. They are also encouraged to prioritize negotiation and continue to serve the people. “We also implore the orators to conduct the rally peacefully and not to provoke others. Do not force your will onto others, not to commit anarchy, and avoid damaging public facilities. We also asked you to respect others who are crossing the road,” said the police chief. (ad/inp/pr/nm)
