Inp.polri.go.id - Jakarta. The East Lombok Sub-regional Police secured six illegal migrants from Afghanistan and Africa who were allegedly preparing to be smuggled overseas via Tanjung Luar, East Lombok, West Nusa Tenggara, on Monday 12/1/2026).
The operation took place after officers detected suspicious movement in Ekas Buana Village, where the group was believed to be awaiting sea transport.
“The migrants were planned to be taken to Maringkik Island, where the vessel was waiting,” said East Lombok Police Head of Public Relations Assistant Senior Inspector Nicolas Osman, as cited by antaranews.com.
Police also detained a local man who transported the migrants and seized a boat suspected to be used for the illegal crossing. Authorities said the migrants had stayed at a local homestay for three nights before being escorted to the coast.
The case remains under investigation to uncover the organizers, routes, and intended destination of the attempted smuggling.
