inp.polri.go.id - Padang. The discovery of a girl's body in the East Malalak area, Agam Regency, has added to the grief of the families of victims of the flash floods and Galodo floods in West Sumatra.
A child named Agila (7), who was previously reported missing since the flash flood struck Toboh East Malalak, was found on Saturday (1/3/2026) at around 2:00 p.m.
Her body surfaced in the Ampangan Toboh Tangah area, East Malalak, while heavy equipment was clearing the mud debris. Based on the clothing, a gray shirt and brown pants, the family believes the victim is the granddaughter of Muzahar (58), a resident of Toboh Nagari Malalak Timur, Agam Regency.
"The family expressed confidence in the victim's identity after recognizing the clothing she wore before the disaster. The body was then buried at Benteng Jorong Toboh, Nagari Malalak Timur," said Acting Head of the West Sumatra Regional Police Medical and Health Division, Superintendent Faizal, on Sunday (1/4/2026).
In his statement, he stated that this discovery illustrates that the search effort still faces a daunting task.
"At the same time, the West Sumatra Regional Police's Disaster Mitigation Team (DVI) continues to prioritize confirming the victim's identity so that the family receives the clarity they deserve," he said.
