Inp.polri.go.id - Jakarta.   In a developing case that has raised questions about the legality of firearm possession, Jakarta Metro Police consulted the Indonesian National Police (INP)'s Security Intelligence Agency (Baintelkam Polri) to scrutinize the permits associated with 12 firearms discovered at the official residence of the Minister of Agriculture, Syahrul Yasin Limpo during a raid by the Anti-Corruption Commission(KPK). The Director of Security Intelligence for Jakarta Metro Police, Senior Superintendent Hirbak Wahyu Setiawan, disclosed that their ongoing consultation with the INP's Security Intelligence Agency aimed at determining the licensing of these dozen firearms. "We are currently in close coordination with Baintelkam Polri to ascertain the legality of the permits associated with these firearms," he during a press conference in Jakarta on Saturday (30/9/2023). Chief Setiawan explained that the seized firearms consisted of various makes and models. "This cache of firearms comprises a range of different types and brands, including Smith & Wesson (S&W), Walther, Tanfoglio, and several others," he was quoted by antaranews.com as saying. The Head of Public Relations Unit for Jakarta Metro Police, Police Commissioner Trunoyudo Wisnu Andiko, refrained from providing any conclusive statements regarding the legal status of the firearms, citing the ongoing nature of the investigation. "At this point, the Directorate of Security Intelligence for Jakarta Metro Police is actively investigating the matter and will be consulting closely with Baintelkam Polri," he said during a media briefing on Friday. KPK has started the legal inquiry for the corruption case at the Ministry of Agriculture. In addition to firearms, the KPK has also seized tens of billions of rupiah in both local and foreign currencies, as well as a number of documents from Minister Limpo's residence during the raid on Thursday.
