Inp.polri.go.id - Palangka Raya. Inspector General Nanang Avianto, the Central Kalimantan Regional Police Chief, has called upon the Palangka Raya Sub-regional Police to take action against perpetrators of forest and land fires as the region grapples with an alarming surge in such incidents.
The Chief has issued a stern directive to all working unit heads, with particular emphasis on sub-regional police chiefs. The directive enabled them to take immediate measures to investigate and prosecute those responsible.
"In the specific case of Palangka Raya City, numerous hotspots have been detected, yet no substantive action has been taken to address the situation. We hope this issue will be addressed promptly, and the individuals responsible for land burning will be brought to justice," said Senior Superintendent Erlan Munaji, the Head of Public Relations Unit of the Central Kalimantan Regional Police.
The data from the Regional Disaster Mitigation Agency of Palangka Raya City showed that as of September 27, 2023, there have been a staggering 420 documented forest and land fires incidents within the vicinity.
The police spokesperson emphasized the Central Kalimantan Regional Police Chief has set this issue a top priority, urging all police precincts to investigate and apply prosecution procedures to tackle forest and land fires cases.
