inp.polri.go.id - Palembang. The police are still investigating the case of a coal-laden barge, owned by PT Bukit Prima Bahari, that hit a resident's house on the banks of the Musi River.
Kertapati Sector Police Chief, First Police Inspector Angga Kurniawan, said the incident occurred on, Dayang Rindu street, Keramasan Village, Kertapati District, Palembang, on Wednesday (3/12/2025) at around 16.30 WIB.
At that time, one of the victims named Sudirman (43) saw a coal barge passing by and was seen turning towards his house. He then asked Aprilia (20) to immediately take a video of the ship.
As the barge went closer to the house, the ship then hit Sudirman's boat, parked behind the kitchen of his house, sinking it.
The barge unfortunately continued to press forward and break through Sudirman’s kitchen, causing major damage and shaking his house. Other than Sudirman, the kitchen of Rismiana (40) also suffered a heavy damage.
"We have conducted a crime scene investigation and asked for statements from the victim and witnesses. Currently, we are also coordinating with the Palembang Sub-regional City Police Water Police Unit for the assistance," he explained, as reported by the Antaranews page, Thursday (13/3/25).
Police estimated the total loss of the accident reached up to IDR 400 million.
